Craftsmanship and care
In 1985, Miquel Gelabert learnt the art and secrets of vine cultivation from the old winegrowers and combined the most modern technology with the most traditional craftsmanship in order to obtain the maximum from his grapes and thus offer wines with personality and character. Since the early years, these wines have won important prizes and mentions, and are the object of great praise both at home and abroad. More than 150 awards (most of them gold medals) over the last few years are proof of the winery’s track record, and its philosophy continues to be to surprise those who taste its wines day after day.
The use of cold and the good condition of the grapes guarantee a good elaboration, where the peculiarities of each grape are respected to the maximum, as the wines ferment without the help of selected yeasts, being the own of each grape the ones that are going to mark their character. The ageing of the wines takes place in 225 and 300 litre oak barrels: 80% French and 20% American, which are renewed by 30-40% each year; in the fermentation of the aged white wines, the barrels are new each year. The ageing in barrels of the red wines and the ageing in bottle of all the wines is carried out in the underground cellar of an old wine cellar dating from 1909, where the silence, tranquillity and unbeatable temperature and humidity conditions make it the ideal place for the ageing and conservation of the wine.
Nowadays, the winery Vins Miquel Gelabert, small and family-run, is located in the municipality of Manacor, registered under number 3 in the Pla i Llevant de Mallorca Denomination of Origin with a production of 40,000 to 45,000 litres per year depending on the harvest.

What makes our wines different?
What is the origin of our wines?
Currently, eleven small estates make up the 9 hectares of vineyards that produce the grapes for our wines. Most of them are located in the municipality of Manacor and some in Felanitx and Petra, and they are all registered in D.O.P. Pla i Llevant de Mallorca.
We grow all the grapes we produce and do not buy grapes from third parties, thus controlling the entire production process.
